CENTOGENE is proud to announce that Prof Peter Bauer/Medical University Tübingen, Germany will join CENTOGENE GmbH in January 2016 as Chief Operating Officer. After studying Medicine in Freiburg and Berlin, Peter worked as a resident in Neurology and in Human Genetics. He received his board certification in Human Genetics in 2006 and heads the molecular diagnostic laboratory at the Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics at the University Hospital Tübingen. His scientific expertise is mostly in the field of genetic research in neurodegenerative disorders and hereditary cancer. Peter has authored more than 140 publications in neurogenetics, oncogenetics and cardiogenetics. He is Co-Principal Investigator in a large European consortium on rare neurodegenerative diseases where he overlooks specifically gene panel, exome, and genome sequencing (www.rd-neuromics.eu). Moreover, he is vice president of the German Society of Neurogenetics (DGNG).
With his extraordinary experience especially in the high-throughput genetic testing on the basis of Next-Generation Sequencing, Peter will be ideal for combining clinical and medical understanding in genetic testing with an excellent knowledge in laboratory techniques. Peter is passionate about turning the medical questions into a complete and fast analytical process, ensuring that the medically driven result is brought back to the clinician and the patient immediately.
